Agricultural Education Expands to All Fifth-Grade Classes

After a successful launch as a pilot program in 2024-25, CHS teacher Ryan McGrath and the district are bringing agricultural education to all fifth-grade classes this school year.
McGrath is visiting Burr fifth graders through Monday, then will head to Sawmill after the two-day break.
On Thursday at Burr, he is discussing the life cycle of plants, differentiating food versus nonedible items as well as whole versus processed foods, and even planting “seed potatoes” in classrooms with students. (Seed potatoes are no longer edible, as they get softer and grow eyes.)
All fifth graders at Burr and Sawmill will make trips to the district-owned Marion Carll Farm throughout this school year.
